MANISTEE SOCCER CLUB

Thank you for your interest in Manistee Soccer Club.  Manistee Soccer Club (MSC) is not affiliated with the Manistee Recreation Association or Manistee Area Public Schools.  We are a non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors, coaches and parents.  MSC consists of “travel teams” that compete in the Great Lakes Coed Soccer League (www.glcsoccer.org) a recreational league in the greater Muskegon area.  We are sanctioned by the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association  (www.msysa.net).  Our goal is to provide a safe, fun and high quality experience for our participants that will allow them to continue to grow in the sport of soccer.

The Manistee Soccer Club season runs over an eight week period.  The first six weeks are regular season play with one game per week generally played on Saturday.  MSC will host three home game Saturdays, the other three games are played away, somewhere between Manistee and the Muskegon area.  Tournament play consists of three games played over a two-week period, followed by Consolation and Championship matches for the top four team in each division based on tournament performance only.  Games are scheduled by Great Lakes Coed Soccer League and are made available approximately two weeks prior to the regular season and tournament start dates.  We encourage our soccer families to carpool to away locations.  Directions to away game locations are posted on the league web site and available from your coach.

The Manistee Soccer Club is currently holding registration for our Fall 2009  season.  Registration is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 19 (eight year olds must be in third grade) living in Manistee County.  Team placement is based on MSYSA age group eligibility guideline and your child’s grade level.  Team size is limited and registration will be closed when current rosters are filled.  No registration will be accepted with out payment of the $45.00 registration fee.  Scholarships are available for all or part of the registration fee, please contact our registrar for more details.  A copy of your child’s birth certificate is required to register a new player.

We look forward to meeting you and your young athlete.  Please feel welcome to join us in the fun and high-energy atmosphere of the game of SOCCER!  If at any time you have questions about our program, please contact our President, Wendy Miller, at 723-8936, registration questions should be directed to our Registrar, Dawn Jordan, at 723-2446.

THANK YOU,

This is a game uniform and should not be worn for practice or other occasions, WITH ONE EXCEPTION:  a player may wear their jersey to school on GAME DAYS or the FRIDAY BEFORE a game.

CARE AND WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: Hand or machine-wash gentle cycle separately in cold water, remove promptly.  DO NOT USE BLEACH!!  Tumble dry on low or hang dry to avoid heat damage to fabric detail and decals.

FUNDRAISING AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Manistee Soccer Club’s policy is to keep registration fees as low as possible, to help meet operating costs we usually hold two fundraisers through the Season, a bottle drive and a Buffet Night.  We ask that parents and players participate in these events to support and help fund the club.  Information on these activities will be made available to your player’s Coach for distribution.

We are a volunteer organization, there are many areas where your expertise, time and sometimes “brawn” can help make our program shine!

These include, serving as a Member of the Board of Directors- from which our Club officers are appointed; Coaching, Fundraising Co-ordination at Club and Team levels, helping with Home Day field set-up and clean-up.  We are looking for someone to act as referee co-ordinator to track certification and schedule for Home Day games.   How about organizing our group for the Forest Festival Parade or taking on the task of organizing our Season end get together, see the possibilities are endless!!!

If you feel you can help us out with any of the areas listed above or you see something else that could improve our programs that we have not thought of, please contact any of our Board Members.
